Students can begin a string instrument in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade. With your encouragement and support, playing music will become a natural part of your child's life. There are many benefits to being involved in orchestra. Besides learning new musical skills, students develop creativity, discipline, and responsibility. They will learn to work as a team and enhance their ability to use critical thinking skills. Our curriculum is designed to nurture musical talents and skills of all students.

The decision to play an instrument is not a small one. It will require time, patience, and a commitment to practice; however, it will be a very rewarding experience. Participation in music will give students something to be proud of and hopefully be involved in for a lifetime.

I am passionate about sharing my love of music with others, and believe that the study of music should be an essential part of every child's education. My mission is to provide children with the positive experiences that will inspire and motivate them to become musicians for life.

Instrument Size: All string instruments come in a variety of sizes that best fits the needs of your child. You will need to provide size information to the rental company of your choice. Please contact me if your child has not already been sized for an instrument.

Rental/Purchase: We highly recommend that you rent an instrument rather than purchase one because your child will change sizes several times and string instruments can be very expensive to repair if something were to happen. Once you determine that your child will be in orchestra, it is suggested that you reserve a rental instrument very soon by calling one of the recommended vendors.

Please contact me if you have any additional questions about the program, need assistance with the rental process, or making a decision regarding vendor choice. I am looking forward to seeing your child in orchestra having fun and making great music very soon!

Violin: smallest and highest pitch    Viola: similar to the violin but has a deeper, richer sound
Cello: produces a beautiful, warm lower tone, and is played in a sitting position     Bass: deepest and largest instrument of the string family
