The AT identification process begins in 3rd grade for 4th grade placement and occurs again in 5th grade for 6th grade placement. All 3rd and 5th grade students take iReady Diagnostic Assessments in Math and ELA and the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) during the school year. These assessments are used to initiate the process of identifying students for the AT program for 4th and 6th grades. Data gathered from the assessments assist in determining students’ problem-solving ability and achievement relative to grade-level or above-grade level standards.
Students identified for AT ELA receive instruction from the classroom teacher, beginning in 4th grade.
AT Math is a pull-out program, taught by the AT Math teacher, during the classroom math time, beginning in 4th grade.
For more information on the Academically Talented Program and the identification process, please see Accelerated Placement Programs on the district website. There you will find a program guide, program pathways, and an identification timeline.
